- Q: Who is providing the tutoring? Is it you? Is it other tutors?
- A: I personally provide all the tutoring, nothing is being delegated to other tutors.
- Q: How much do you charge?
- A: The range per session is between 40$-$80, depending on the urgency, frequency, and the goals we are attempting to achieve. I will give you a precise quote after we meet and chat about your child's needs. Don't worry, you are not paying for the meeting. You are also not paying per time, but per session. Most sessions last anywhere from 60 to 120 minutes.
- Q: What makes you different than other tutors?
- A: First, I'm a full time tutor, I don't do it part-time, and I'm 100% committed to every student. Second, I have over 10-years of educational experience helping kids get into ivy league schools, ace the SAT's, or just organize their work better and finish a difficult project. I've worked with New York inner city kids, new immigrants, the mentally gifted and the mentally challenged. Teaching, on a personal level, is a passion for me, and I believe it shows through my work. Third, I have a unique approach to tutoring that is goal oriented, challenging, fun, and most importantly, it produces results!
- Q: What about communication?
- A: Traditional sessions are face-to-face. Then, extra work is being done via email, texting, and phone calls. I utilize a slew of online utilities such as Google Docs, Google Calendar and Net-conferencing.
- Q:How about location? Where do the tutoring sessions take place?
- A: Several options. You local library always works, but the privacy of your home is by far the best option. No distractions, controlled environment, and a real chance to focus on what matters.
- Q: Why did you choose to be tutor?
- A: I enjoy working with young adults who are motivated to take control of their lives and work on their future. In the academic settings I've worked in the past, the work was hit and miss. Students were coming to school for different reasons, and hence, different levels of motivation. I also like to get measurable results, and find myself being most effective working one-on-one with my students. So tutoring is a way to put my passion into practice and help where help is needed most.
- Q: Do you accept any student?
- A: No. Many of the parents that contact me do not have a "buy in" from their children. The parent wants more, the child doesn't. In such cases, I usually don't get invovled. I primarily look for motivation to change, and when it doesn't come from the child, I
